iPad, the Apple Tablet Finally Launched

Another story about iPad (finally Apple Tablet is named).

Seems it more like a soap opera story if we follow about the iPad news, from its rumor about the specifications, when the device will be launched, and what it will be named. Even when iPad has been launched two days ago, it still make a controversy among gadget lovers.

Lets check about the specifications first before we discuss it on the next post.

iPad Specifications :

- SCREEN: 9.7-inch IPS LCD screen. The LCD provides the backlighting, but most of the technology is IPS, or In-plane switching. This gives it a stronger viewing angle than most screens.

- RESOLUTION: 1024×768 pixels (132 pixels per inch)

- SIZE: 0.5 inches thin.

- DIMENSIONS: 9.5 inches x 7.5 inches x 0.5 inches

- WEIGHT: 1.5 pounds (1.6 pounds for 3G)

- CHIP: 1 GHz Apple A4 chip. They prefer to went in-house instead of going to Intel as usuall.

- MEMORY: Three models with 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB solid state hard drives.

- INCLUSIONS: Accelerometer, Microphone, 30-pin connector, Compass, full capacitive multi-touch, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11n WiFi, 3G access on higher-end models

- BATTERY LIFE: 10 hours at full blast. On standby, it will last over a month.

Summary:

It’s thin, it’s light, it’s fast and it's cheaper than any predictions (around $1000). Unfortunately it is lack of camera built in.

According to Steve Jobs, iPad is created to fill the gap between smartphones, It’s great for delivering all kinds of content, the new way for you to enjoy the digital entertainments.

iPad for Watching Movies

One aspect of the digital entertainment is watching movies or videos. iPad's XGA screen supports up to 1024 x 768 resolution, with 4:3 ratio. This way, you can watch HD movie with 720p pixel in iPad. If they're over 720p, then you have to transcode your videos first, before watching them. Although, if you have an HDTV, and your iPad and Apple TV are on the same WiFi network, you can watch your movies in the big screen.

Of course Apple will suggest you to buy movies directly from iTunes, that way they can make more money. But you can also download full movies into your PC, and play it on your gadget. This is a good idea, considering it's not wise to stock up your iPad with tons of HD movies, since it's only has 64 GB of hard drive spaces.
